Xander's First 4th of July

This 4th of July holiday has been a relatively relaxing time for Erin, Xander and me. Erin and I were both out of work on Friday, and we used the long weekend to relax, get some chores done around the house, get some exercise and see some fireworks and friends.

On Thursday night we had a wonderful visit with Ryan and Lori Cooper, and the new mini Cooper, Jaden Hope. Jaden is a beautiful little girl and the whole family seems to be doing very well. We brought Ryan and Lori Efrain's (a local Mexican restaurant) for dinner on Friday night and were able to spend some time together. It is hard to believe that we were in there shoes just 3 months ago. It seems like a lifetime ago. Ryan and Lori are keeping a blog at http://minicooper-boulder.blogspot.com.

We took Xander to see the fireworks in Erie on Friday night. Erin was a little unsure if he would enjoy them or not, it was way past his bedtime, but he was really into them. I was pretty impressed with the fireworks show in Erie, it was very good for a small town show.

On Saturday I went for a long run in the morning with Xander, we ran 12 miles. I haven't run that far since November last year. We got back and Xander and I were both bushed, so we took a nap together. Later that evening we drove up to Nederland to see John and Levi and Sarah. We had a nice BBQ together up there and then watched the fireworks in Nederland over Barker Reservoir. Very cool. I think that Xander was done with fireworks though, because he slept through the whole show.

Today is shaping up to be quiet day. Xander has been a little challenging this weekend, not sleeping very well, and being pretty fussy. We got up this morning to take some family pictures, but were plagued with equipment issues (I still don't know what that beeping means from the flash) and a crying baby. We managed to get a couple of nice photos though.
