Last weekend Erin and I took Xander for a run in Boulder on the Greenbelt Plateau and Community Ditch trails. These trails are pretty wide and relativey smooth, so we figured that it would work well with the chariot. We started out and the trail was pretty smooth and Xander was happy as could be. As the trail started to get rougher, Xander started to bounce more, he was still happy, but it seemed kind of rough. He really does like to be bounched, so we kept a close eye on him and kept going. After a while, I think it became a bit much and he started to fuss. So, we walked for a while and he was happy again. Then I realized that the tires were pumped way up, around 30 psi. I let some air out of the tires, until they were almost flat, an we started running again. All the bumping was gone, those soft tires just soaked up all the bumps.

I realized that what Xander needed was BIGGER tires. So, at the mature age of 3 months old, Xander got his first set of high performance tires... I can sense a dangerous precendent already. The stock tires on the chariot are 20X1.75, we got new 20X2.2" tires. These are a LOT bigger. I installed the tires this morning and we plan to take them out for a test ride later today.

For all you other chariot owners out there who might be interested, here's the stats:
Demolition Monaco 20X2.2" Tire20X1.75-2.125" Presta TubeThe CSL model uses presta valve tubes, so I had to do a little hunting to find those in this size. I think all the other models use scharader valves so you should be able to find those tubes easily.
