According to most websites and advice columns I've read, babies usually get up on their hands and knees around 5 months, then learn to rock, then army crawl, and finally learn a proper crawl sometime before 10 months. In Xander's case, he went straight to the army crawl just before Christmas, and then on his 9 month birthday, after spending several days watching Jackson and Leah, just decided to crawl- proficiently- with little in the way of precursers or practice. The kid crawls. Everywhere.
With crawling has come an immediate and, in this mom's opinion, profound change in how *aware* the kid is. He's so much fun right now because he is learning so fast and is so excited about everything! He's also at the same time graduating quickly to cruising, and just loves to pull himself up on anything. He is changing so fast!!
In other news, Xander has actually lost a little weight according to the home scale- and is now 23 pounds. Still a nice plump number, but it goes to show how active he is all of a sudden.
I can't wait to take Xander on "adventures". He'll be ready for swings, and slides, mud puddles, and worms in no time time flat.
