Thanksgiving is Fun time with Gran

Thanksgiving visit with Gran and Rod means lots of fun time.

Xander and Maya get to play games.  First, you have to pick your superhero pieces for Chutes and Ladders.  "Brother, check out my spin, I win!".

 On a nice clear night we can see Jupiter and its moons.

 Hiking up Bear Peak with Gran and Rod is lots of fun, especially when we get to stop for snack time.

Of course, when Gran and Rod come to town we have to take some pictures too.

Of course, a good photo session allows Xander a chance to bust out his dance moves.

 Phew, that was hard work!

Gymnastics

The kids are loving gymnastics and it is lots of fun to watch them play and learn.

The Lego House

Xander really enjoys building houses out of legos.  And thanks to Erin, we have a lot of legos.  So, naturally Xander wanted to see just how big a lego house he could build.  Xander started building with his buddy Jack and Maya.

Then Dad got in on the action too.

Of course now that it was this big, we had to see if Xander could fit inside.  And Maya, not ever being one to be left out, hopped in the lego box.

Then, naturally, it was time to knock everything down.  Hooray!

Super Halloween 2012

Miller Farms

 Miller Farms near us is a wonderful place to visit for the fall harvest.  They have an eclectic variety of stuff that is great fun for the kids to play on, everything from rows of old tractors to a bit bouncy inflatable dome to pedal carts that you can race around a track.

After letting the kids play, we hopped on the back of a tractor and headed off to dig in the dirt and pick vegetables.

 

Digging for potatoes is fun, but is even better when you can share with a friend!

After a long day of picking vegetables, Maya was ready to take our haul home, but only after getting a chance to pull the wagon herself.

Maya Rides a Bike

Maya rides a bike, kind of.  Maya actually loves to ride sitting on the top tube of my BMX bike.  It generally doesn't last very long, since it can't be very comfortable for her, but she really loves the idea.  She still isn't all that keen on the strider bike yet.  We break it out every month or so and she gamely hops on and pushes it a few steps, but she hasn't decided that it is fun yet.  I think she will really take off on it next summer.

Xander meanwhile is unstoppable on his bike.  See that intense look as he plows into a pile of leaves!

Story Time

Erin and I are a couple of book worms, in fact as I type this Erin is curled up next to me reading a book.  So, of course, we love to read to the kids and we love that the kids really like books too.  Story time is great family time when we all get to sit together and enjoy a good book.
